  2. When are the trains?
    a. Santa Trains run Weekend days, starting Dec. 7th (12/7,8,14, 15, 21, 22). Departure times are hourly starting at 10 am and continuing to 3 pm (10, 11, 12, 1, 2, 3).
    b. Pajama Trains run Friday and Saturday evenings, stating Nov. 29 (11/29, 30; 12/6, 7, 13, 14, 20, 21); and Sunday and Monday, (12/22 & 23). Departure times are 6 pm and 8 pm.
    ARRIVE AND PICKUP YOUR TICKETS, AT LEAST ½ HOUR BEFORE THE DEPARTURE TIME. WE WILL BE CROWDED IN PARKING LOT AND ON THE PLATFORM.
  3. How long is the ride?
    a. Santa train rides are about 35 minutes.
    b. Pajama train rides are about 1 hour and 30 minutes.
  4. What are the costs?
    a. Santa Train: $10 per person (Adult or Child over 1. Children under 1 that will sit on an adult’s lap that doesn’t take a seat do not need a ticket. One lap child per adult.)
    b. Pajama Train: ALL SEATING IS RESERVED BY SEAT NUMBER
    i. First Class: $45 (Dining Car) per person (at table for 4);
    ii. Table Class: $35 (ADA Car) per person (at table for 6);
    iii. Coach Class: $30 (2 Coaches) per person (on coach seats for 2).
    For all classes: Cost is per Adult or Child over 1. Children under 1 that will sit on an adult’s lap that doesn’t take a seat do not need a ticket. One lap child per adult.)
    NOTE: First Class and Table Class tables will be filled with other guests if the purchaser does not purchase and entire table’s worth of tickets. Coach seats 2 across, so unless your party reserves 2 seats you will have a seat mate.
  5. I’m a FNSR member, can I get a discount?
    a. Yes, members receive discounts of $5 per ticket for Pajama Train ONLY. Discounts are limited to 8 tickets per membership.
    b. No discounts for Santa Train tickets.
  6. I’m a senior, military, veteran, friend of someone, etc.; can I get a discount?
    a. No, we are sorry that we are not able to provide any discounts unless you are a FNSR member (see above). We have senior memberships. Discounts only apply to Pajama Train tickets. To learn more about becoming a Member, click HERE.
  7. What is the capacity of a car if I have a large group?
    a. Coaches seat 68 each (2 coaches)
    b. Table car seats 36
    c. Dinner (First Class) seats 48
  8. How do I get my tickets?
    a. ALL TICKETS MUST BE RESERVED (and PAID) IN ADVANCE AND PICKED UP AT THE TICKET OFFICE AT LEAST 15 MINUTES PRIOR TO DEPARTURE TIME. (30 minutes prior suggested). TRAINS WILL LEAVE ON TIME! ALLOW TIME FOR TRAFFIC AND CROWDS. WE GET VERY BUSY AND SOME LINES ARE LONG. COME EARLY, PLEASE! WE ARE NOT ABLE TO HOLD THE TRAIN IN YOU ARE NOT ON THE PLATFORM AT TIME OF DEPARTURE.
  9. What do I get for the different class of Pajama Train tickets?
    a. First Class (Dining Car), $45 per seat at tables for four, includes extended time with Santa, hot cocoa at your table, whipped cream on top, cookies galore … and more. “And more” includes wait service at your table, extra hot cocoa, extra cookies, the book reading will be done from the dining car, extra time with Santa, a premium chocolate bar and a keepsake ornament/memento for the youngsters. 
    b. Table Class: (ADA Car), $35 per seat at tables for six, includes prime time with Santa, hot cocoa and cookie delivery.
    c. Coach Class: $30 per seat on cushioned bench seating (Rows 1 through 8 have two seats facing each other), includes time with Santa, hot cocoa and cookie delivery. 
    d. All classes of service will have music throughout the journey and hear a story read live from the Dining Car – plus, of course, visits from Santa.
  10. Can you accommodate passengers needing help getting up the stairs? What about wheelchairs?
    a. Yes, all trains can accept passengers that cannot climb steps or use a wheelchair. However, space is limited. The Table car has the accommodations for wheelchair passengers. (Please note if you sell a seat for a wheelchair passenger so we can be ready to provide that service.)
  11. Can I get a refund or make a change?
    a. All sales are final. However, is there is a problem, please contact a sales representative at least one day in advance as we will try to accommodate a change.
  12. If I or my child is ill, may we still come for the train ride?
    a. To be fair to all, we suggest that passengers who are ill please not come out and infect other passengers, as a common courtesy. You wouldn’t want others to infect you. If you have a problem, please contact a sales agent with as much notice as possible.
  13. Where do we board the train?
    a. We are located at 601 Yucca Street in Boulder City, off of Boulder City Parkway. Take Exit 15B off I-11 (I 515) toward Boulder City (Boulder City Parkway). We will have lines and attendants to indicate where to board the train on the platform. For the PJ evening trains, we will have boarding locations for each class of service.

  14. Do I have to wear pajamas on the Pajama Train?
    a. No, but we encourage you to participate with holiday attire including pajamas. Some clothing is REQUIRED (dress for the weather).
  15. Is the train heated?
    a. The cars for our service are enclosed and maintained at a reasonable temperature. However, the platform waiting area is not enclosed so dress accordingly.
  16. Can we buy food?
    a. Chilly Jilly’z may be selling hot chocolate, cookies and other goodies during the day for the Santa Trains, depending on the weather and demand. FNSR bottled water is available at the ticket office. ($1 cash per bottle).
  17. Can we take food on the train?
    a. Only food supplied on the train may be consumed on the train. Please do not take on any food or bring food. (Baby formula in bottles of course may be brought on.) Water in a bottle may also be brought on board.
  18. Will the gift shop be open?
    a. Yes, during the regular hours of the train rides. PJ Trains: 5 to 8 PM, Santa Trains: 9:30 AM to 4 PM.
  19. What else is open to see at the museum?
    a. Our model railroad car will be open on weekends. Possibly before the PJ trains, as staff is available.
    b. Our platform exhibits (RPO car, Caboose are open to visit) and other equipment is on display during weekends, during the daytime. We may have other exhibits open as well. Check with our platform docents.
    c. We expect to have the narrow gage steamer, Eureka, operating for flatcar rides during weekend days. Boarding is across the platform on the narrow-gauge track. Donations may be made to offset the cost of moving Eureka to the museum.
    d. Our 7.5” gauge, models are expected to be operating for Santa Train weekends. They are located down the hill from the platform and across from the overflow parking area. They offer a 10-minute ride and accept donations.
    e. We may have our 1899 business car, Ellsmere, open for tours on weekend days.
  20. Is there an admission charge for these other exhibits?
    a. No, however donations are encouraged to help support the restoration and operations of the museum.
  21. Do you accommodate Service Dogs?
    a. Yes. Service Dogs are allowed on the platform and the train. Please inform the Ticket Office if you are bringing a service dog with you on the train. We prefer to have service dogs in the ADA (Table Car) due to carpet and upholstery on the chairs in the other cars. Owners are responsible for the behavior of their service animals.
  22. Is Santa on the train?
    a. Yes, Santa visits each car during the train run. For Pajama Train, Santa will have lots of time for photos. For Santa Train, due to our abbreviated run times, Santa will have limited time for multiple photos with multiple cameras – so please select a single camera for use and share your photos.
