Volunteer
Volunteers are the life-blood of our organization and make running the railway museum possible. We provide volunteers for all of the station and train operating positions. And, of course, we provide training in railroad operations via a progression through the various positions. But best of all, we have fun!
The museum could use your assistance by volunteering for the following positions on our staff:
Train Crew Member
Excursion trains run Saturdays and Sundays, car attendant, brakeman, conductor, engineer; will receive specific training, learn operating rules and regulations.
Maintenance Technician
On vintage railroad equipment, experience helpful, but not required.
Restoration Specialist
Woodworking, carpentry, cleaning and restoring, i.e. Ellsmere and similar equipment.
Youth Programs
Reading stories, assisting with crafts and arts, other special events, and StoryTime.
Model Railroader
Assist in building and operating model trains in our model railroad car.
Docent
Meet and greet the public and provide information about our equipment and trains, plus other museum activities.
