You can charter the entire train for your party, birthday, wedding, etc. with our "Charter the Train" program.
The train runs from our station in Boulder City, Nevada westward for about 4 miles along the historic Boulder Branch Line constructed by the Union Pacific Railroad in 1931 to bring equipment and material to the Hoover Dam construction site. Passengers ride aboard newly refurbished and air conditioned Pullman coaches. An open air coach is available for those who choose to enjoy the outdoors. Passengers experience great views of the sprawling Eldorado Valley, the River Mountains, the McCullough Range, and many fine examples of Mojave Desert plant life and cactii, with occasional appearances by rabbits
A Dining Car is available as well. The car can seat up to 48 people. Its kitchen has refridgerators and food preparation counters - ideal for catered meals. The train is available Wednesday through Friday. Rates are based upon a minimum two hour charter, with additional charges for each additional hour. The train has a capacity of 200 people.
The dining car may also be rented for private parties on our regularly scheduled weekend runs. See "Birthday parties on the train," below.

Nevada State Railroad Museum / Boulder City
Experience riding in the cab with the engineer and brakeman. Cab rides are available during normal weekend operations. There is a maxium of two or
three people (depending upon locomotive in use). FRA regulations do not permit more than five people in the locomotive cab during operation.

Minimum age five. Children age 5 to 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Locomotives are not air-conditioned. Cab rides subject to Engineer's approval.

Teachers can plan a field trip for their students to visit the Nevada
Southern Railway in historic Boulder City, the city that built the hoover dam.
Ride the rails with your students and experience history dating back to the
1930's, the time these rails were laid by the Union Pacific Railroad to
service the Boulder Dam Project.
We request a minimum group size of 25, on Thursdays and Fridays. Our
group rate for school groups is $5 per person, and for non-school groups
is $5 per child (ages 1-11) and $7 per adult.

Our Private Dining Car is available for private birthday parties and also adult events and parties on our regularly scheduled weekend runs. You provide the food (may be catered), non-alcoholic beverages (children's parties) and decorations. You will have use of the car for two complete runs plus the time in between (approximately 2¼ hours).
Fee is $500.00 for the two consecutive runs. Your choice of 10:00AM-11:30AM, 11:30AM-1:00PM or 1:00PM-2:30pm. Train arrives back at the depot 40 minutes after departure times (shown).
At the conclusion of the second run all passengers must exit the train taking all belongings with them.

The "Engineer for an Hour" program allows you to get operating instruction from one of our FRA (Federal Railroad Administration) licensed engineers.
After preliminary safety instructions, you will be at the controls of one of our four diesel locomotives. Operation will be along our main line which has approximately 4 miles of track, running from our station at Boulder City to Railroad Pass,
just east of where I-93/95 is paved over our tracks.. The crew will consist of yourself as student engineer, an engineer, and a brakeman.
For only $250.00 you will have the opportunity to experience running a diesel-
electric locomotive along the historic tracks of the Boulder Branch Line, which were used during the construction of the Hoover Dam in the 1930's.
You will be accompanied and instructed by one of our certified locomotive engineers.

· We highly recommend making reservations at least two weeks in advance.
· Reservations are available Wednesday through Friday only.
· One guest is allowed to accompany you in the cab.
· The engineer for an hour and guest must at least 18 years old.
· Specific locomotive requests will be accommodated when possible, although substitutions may be necessary.
· A certificate, suitable for framing, is awarded at the end of your session.

Our ‘Buy a Brick’ program permits you to demonstrate your support of the Nevada State Railroad Museum in a permanent, sustainable memorial. Bricks will be placed in a heavily trafficked public area of the Museum.
